Walsh Flooring Services executed a subfloor preparation and high-end Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) installation for a newly completed loft conversion in Bristol. The project involved preparing the newly constructed subfloor with MAPEI renovation smoothing compound and laying a classic wood-effect herringbone LVT pattern throughout the main living space and landing area.
Subfloor Preparation & MAPEI Renovation Screed
- Perimeter Protection: Low-tack masking tape was applied along all skirting boards, door frames, and stair balustrades to preserve existing paintwork during application.
- Surface Levelling & Screeding: High-performance MAPEI renovation smoothing compound was poured and finished across the entire subfloor. This flexible, fibre-reinforced screed created a glass-smooth surface across the loft layout.
- Seamless Subfloor Base: The self-levelling compound corrected subfloor minor deviations and joint gaps, providing the ideal smooth foundation required for LVT adhesive bonding.
Herringbone LVT Installation & Precision Detailing
- Intricate Pattern Setting: Gluedown wood-look LVT planks were laid in a traditional herringbone pattern, carefully aligned to run true along the main architectural lines of the loft room and hallway.
- Hand-Scribed Border Cuts: Planks were hand-cut around outer walls, angled eaves, radiator pipes, and stair bannister structures, ensuring seamless perimeter joints without gaps.
- Clean Edge Finishing: Perimeter edges were cut to fit flush against skirting boards and thresholds for a crisp, tailored aesthetic.
Key Project Outcomes
- Subfloor Perfection: MAPEI renovation screed neutralized subfloor imperfections, ensuring a flat, durable surface for adhesive application.
- Premium Architectural Aesthetic: Herringbone LVT added warmth, texture, and a high-end designer finish to the newly created loft space.
- Precision Workmanship: Hand-scribed cuts around complex room angles and stair balustrades delivered a clean, professional finish ready for immediate use.
