This project involved the installation of a high-specification Amtico Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) feature floor within a refurbished office space in Exeter, Devon. The installation featured a complex 3D geometric optical motif composed of multi-toned stone-effect tiles, laid over a prepared subfloor using high-temperature adhesive to ensure thermal stability and long-term durability.
Preparation & Acclimatisation
Strict subfloor and material preparation protocols were essential to execute the intricate layout and maintain dimensional stability:
- Material Acclimatisation: Amtico LVT tiles were unboxed and stacked directly within the site environment to acclimatise to ambient room temperature prior to fitting.
- Subfloor Preparation: The substrate was prepared to a flat finish to support the tight tolerances required for geometric tile alignment.
- Adhesive Application: High-temperature (HT) adhesive was spread using a notched trowel across the subfloor, providing strong initial tack and resistance against thermal movement from large exterior window sunlight exposure.
Amtico Geometric LVT Fitting
- Intricate Pattern Assembly: Tiles comprising elongated hexagons, parallelograms, and squares in contrasting light, mid, and dark stone tones were assembled to form a continuous 3D geometric pattern.
- Precision scribing: Material was hand-scribed precisely around wall panel moulding, perimeter skirting, electrical points, and kitchenette bases for a flush finish.
- Seamless Coverage: The feature geometric floor was laid continuously across the central office workspace and break-out areas without threshold breaks.
Key Project Outcomes
- Striking Visual Impact: The multi-tone stone-effect Amtico layout created a high-end, dynamic focal point tailored for a modern corporate office interior.
- Thermal & Structural Stability: Utilizing high-temperature adhesive ensured the complex geometry remains locked without seam expansion or tile movement.
- Commercial Durability: The hard-wearing Amtico LVT finish delivers excellent resistance to heavy foot traffic, desk chairs, and daily office wear.
